Here is an update concerning the heat threat again today. More advisories will likely be needed over the next couple of days.
WHAT: Potentially dangerous heat conditions with heat index values up to 110 degrees
WHEN: From 10 a.m. through 7 p.m.
WHERE: Most of southeast LA and southern MS, excluding the Louisiana coast
CONFIDENCE: We are confident hot temperatures and high humidity will occur today and could quickly lead to heat illness if precautions aren’t taken.
Impacts:
- Heat index readings are forecast to climb above 108 degrees for multiple hours.
- With heat index values up to 110 degrees, heat illness can occur quickly.
