June is here and road work is heating up in Tangipahoa Parish.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said Barriere Construction will have multiple overlay-related operations underway across the parish during the week of June 2, including:
- Soil cement operations are scheduled on Chemeketee, Gemstone, Frank Lane, and Jaelyn Drive;
- Preliminary asphalt patching is planned for Trabona, North Peckerwood, West Martin Luther King, Mandella, North Duncan, and South Lewiston;
- Asphalt paving will begin on East Park, Briarwood, Arbordale, Whiskey Lane, Whitmar, Pardo, Oak Hollow, and Holly;
- Shoulder dressing continues on Chappapeela, Briarwood, Arbordale, East Park, Whiskey Lane, Whitmar, Holly, Oak Hollow, and Pardo;
- Permanent striping operations are planned on Chappapeela, South I-12 Service Road, Old Covington, Brown Road, Happywoods, Whiskey Lane, and Wadesboro.
All work is weather permitting, and intermittent delays should be expected. Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes, if at all possible.
Miller also reminds motorists that a portion of South Airport Road is scheduled to be closed during the week of June 2-8 to repair a roadway issue just north of the Sisters Road roundabout. Crews will close South Airport between Aiden Road and the northside of the Sisters Road to fix “settling” in the roadway at the drainage crossing just north of the roundabout.
Message boards have been posted along the route, and detours will be in place during the construction period.
