It’s been more than three years since Hurricane Ida ripped through Tangipahoa, and Parish President Robby Miller is once again asking the public’s help in identifying the many hanging utility lines and broken or abandoned utility poles that remain across our area.
Miller is asking the public to take pictures of these lines, which are referred to as “wire debris,” and either text or email the image with the location of these spots to local officials.
“Tangipahoa Parish residents have gone through great pains to clean up their own properties from Hurricane Ida-related damage and debris. Now it’s time that our utility companies complete the work of clearing wire debris from the storm,” Miller said.
The parish will collect information on where lines are still hanging and notify the appropriate utility company of the issue. Parish leaders are monitoring the reports to ensure the wire debris is corrected in a timely manner.
Residents are asked to share images of wire debris and a description of the nearest 9-1-1 location via email at [email protected] or text that info and a photo (if possible) to 9857483260.
“Please join us in helping our utility companies track down these problem spots in our area,” Miller said.
