Here is an update concerning the severe weather and heavy rainfall threat this afternoon and evening (Wednesday, Nov. 13):
WHAT: MARGINAL RISK of Severe Weather & SLIGHT RISK for heavy rain.
WHEN: This afternoon and evening
WHERE: All of SE LA and S MS, but especially for SW MS with the heavy rainfall
CONFIDENCE: We are confident that there will be thunderstorms across the area and that a few will be strong to marginally severe and will produce heavy rainfall.
Impacts: The main threats associated with any severe storms will be:
Damaging Winds:
- Wind gusts greater than 60 mph are possible.
- Winds of this magnitude are capable of causing damage to trees and power lines, leading to isolated/scattered power outages
Tornadoes:
- A few tornadoes are possible.
Rainfall:
- In addition to the severe weather threat, rainfall of up to an inch is forecast. There is a low chance of local amounts 3 inches or more.
- Street flooding is likely from some storms, and flash flooding will be possible in the areas that receive the most rain.
