HAMMOND—Walsh Road will be closed during the business day on Tuesday, October 29, for a bridge repair.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said Walsh Road will be closed between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, so bridge crews can change out deck boards on the bridge. No traffic will be allowed during the construction period.
Walsh Road is located off of Happywoods Road near Hammond.
In addition to the bridge work, Miller said the Material Resources contractor will continue to perform surface treatments on the following roadways during the week of October 28:
- River Crest Drive
- Tracey Lane
- Acadiana Place
- Pine Meadow Road
- Steptoe Road
Miller said the contractor is advising motorists to use alternate routes while the surface treatment work is being completed.
Miller also reminds motorists that clearing work is expected to begin this week on the eastern right-of-way of North Hoover Road between Thorn Lane and LA 22. This work is being done in preparation for the expansion of North Hoover Road, which is expected to begin in early 2025. The clearing work is expected to take at least one month, perhaps longer, due to weather conditions. Miller said North Hoover Road will remain open for travel; however, the roadway will be reduced to one lane in the vicinity of the clearing operation. Traffic control will be set up daily to alternate the traffic passing through the work site.
“Please exercise caution and patience while traveling through this work zone,” Miller said, encouraging motorists to use alternate routes, if at all possible.
