Mayor Jim Paine announced that the Town of Independence is under a boil advisory until further notice due to a water main break.
The town’s maintenance department is onsite and repairs are in process.
Until this order is rescinded by the Town of Independence, all citizens are advised to boil water for at least one minute and allow the water to come to a rolling boil. It is recommended to disinfect water before consuming water, brushing teeth and washing and using in food preparation.
This advisory will remain in place until the state has notified the town of the suitability of the water for consumer use.
