INDEPENDENCE—Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said crews continue to do preliminary work, particularly replacing culverts where necessary, in preparation for this year’s overlay program.
The Tangipahoa Parish Council awarded the overlay contract to Barriere Construction Company at last Monday night’s meeting. Work on this $7.1 million package is expected to begin shortly, Miller said.
In preparation for overlay, the following cross drain replacement projects are scheduled this week:
- Tuesday, April 18: Catfish Farm Road (8 a.m. until noon);
- Wednesday, April 19: Cutrer Lane off of LA 1054 (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.); and
- Friday, April 21: Rabbit Run Road off of Lee Hughes Road (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
Cross drain replacement projects require road closures at the assigned location. As a result, each roadway will be closed during the hours listed above while work is being completed. Detours will be posted, and no motor traffic will allowed in the construction zone.
In addition to these local projects, DOTD announced this week that patching work has resumed on LA 445 between LA 40 and Chappapeela Road. There will be intermittent and alternating lane closures on LA 445 while crews perform this work at several cross drain locations. Only one lane of travel will be closed at any given time.
DOTD also announced that there will be intermittent lane closures along I-55 from the I-10 interchange in St. John Parish to the I-55 Service Road (exit 22) near Ponchatoula starting this week and continuing through approximately May 5. Crews are working in the area, trimming trees. Only one lane will be closed at any given time; however, DOTD suggests that motorists may choose to utilize the US 51 Frontage Road as an alternate route while work is progressing.
