April 24, 2020 Update

News

  • Paycheck Protection Program to Resume Monday – President Trump has signed the latest coronavirus financial relief package, providing $310 billion for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). The Small Business Administration will resume accepting PPP applications from approved lenders on Monday morning.  To read more, click here.
  • Paycheck Protection Program FAQs – Additional Paycheck Protection Program FAQs were also released today by the Department of Treasury.  They include clarification stating that while there is no requirement borrowers must be unable to obtain credit elsewhere, they must certify in good faith that their PPP loan request is necessary.  This guidance comes in response to widely publicized reports of larger public businesses with other access to capital receiving loans through this program.
  • Health Equity Task Force –Governor John Bel Edwards announced that he is making $500,000 available to the Louisiana COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force.  Established earlier this month, the goal of the task force is to study the causes and solutions to the high rate of deaths from the coronavirus within Louisiana’s African-American community and other impacted populations.  Funding for the task force is from the Governor’s COVID-19 Response Fund which is funded through the Irene W & C.B. Pennington Family Foundation, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation and the Huey and Angelina Wilson Foundation.
  • Band Together Online Benefit Fest – Saturday, at 3:00pm, Band Together Online Benefit Fest will be hosting a benefit concert that not only showcases the best talent our region has to offer, but will also raise funds for musicians.  The New Orleans Music Economy (NOME) initiative is one of the partners of Band Together
