As of 12:00pm (noon) today there were 30,652 COVID-19 cases reporting in the state of Louisiana with 1,432 patients in hospitals (189 require ventilator). There have been 2,135 reported deaths. All Louisiana data is available at www.ldh.la.gov/coronavirus.

- Analysts suggest that meat supply chain issues related to the pandemic may reduce retail supply up to 30% by the end of May as well as increase prices up to 20%. Industry associations forecast losses in excess of $20 billion by the end of 2020.
- Meat suppliers are likely already rationing current meat supplies and will draw on cold storage over the next month to make up for shortages.
- It is anticipated that 3.1-3.3 million new jobless claims will be filed for the week ending May 25th which if correct, will mean 33 million Americans have applied for unemployment in the last seven weeks.
School Districts Deploy WiFi-Equipped Buses to Expand Broadband Access for Students. In North Carolina, state officials partnered with AT&T, Duke Energy and Google to outfit 280 school buses with wireless internet, a move Gov. Roy Cooper said was necessary after schools closed for the remainder of the year. “In many communities, school buses are already delivering meals to students and their families,” Cooper said in a statement. “Now, they’re delivering WiFi for online learning.” https://www.routefifty.com/tech-data/2020/05/buses-wifi-broadband-students/165192/
