AMITE—Tangipahoa Parish residents who test positive for COVID-19 and develop mild to moderate symptoms can now receive monoclonal antibody treatment without having to go to the hospital.
Today Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller announced that the Louisiana Department of Health in partnership with Tangipahoa Parish Government opened a mobile monoclonal antibody treatment site in Amite at the Florida Parishes Arena.
LDH says monoclonal antibodies have been authorized as a preventive therapy for people who have been exposed to COVID-19 and are at risk of hospitalization or death. In situations where people are unable to get the COVID-19 vaccine, mAbs can be administered to adults and youth ages 12 and older.
“This mobile site offers high-risk COVID patients another option to seek treatment locally without having to go to the hospital,” Miller said, adding that the parish is proud to be able to partner to bring this service to the community.
The mobile site is fully approved by the Louisiana Department of Health and staffed with professional medical personnel. It is open seven days per week, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and walk-ins are accepted.
Miller said there is no out of pocket expense; however, residents are asked to bring their health insurance information to the site.
