INDEPENDENCE—Finishing touches will commence this week on several of the Phase 22 roads being reworked in Tangipahoa Parish.
Parish President Robby Miller said “dressing” work will begin on Monday on several of the overlay projects completed in the last few weeks.
“Shoulder dressing is a process used to apply and compact approved dirt materials that prevent shoulder erosion after overlay is completed on each road,” Miller explained, adding that the process is critical to maintaining a quality road product.
As a result, motorists may see work trucks back in those areas where roadways were recently paved. In most cases, roadways will not need to be closed to traffic during this application process; however, he encouraged motorists to be patient as there may be delays while work is being completed.
During the week of June 6, overlay crews will be working in the following areas:
– Monday, June 6: Applying soil cement on West and East Bennett Roads; dressing Fontana Road, Charles Sinagra, Pine Street, Black Cat and Maggio crossings, and North Wilson;
– Tuesday, June 7: Milling and patching on Natchez and Mooney; dressing Fontana Road, Charles Sinagra, Pine Street, Black Cat and Maggio crossings, and North Wilson; soil cement on Sallie Kinchen and sewer treatment;
– Wednesday, June 8: Paving North Lee Hughes and Rohner Road; milling and patching on South Elm; milling on Dummyline;
– Thursday, June 9: Paving on Western Avenue, North Wilson, Dummyline and Morris Retreat; milling and patching on Fern Street;
– Friday, June 10: Paving on West and East Green Streets (full width); milling and patching on Lee Farm;
– Saturday, June 11: Paving on Natchez and Mooney; milling and patching on North Rateau and 11th Street and Wadesboro Road.
All road work will be posted on the day of construction, Miller said.
