Severe Weather Update - Wednesday 12/30/2020


Emergency Managers of Southeast Louisiana and Southern Mississippi - 

Here is an update concerning the severe weather threat on Thursday 12/31/2020.

Changes from previous update:

No significant changes.


WHAT: SLIGHT RISK of Severe Weather

WHEN: Thursday afternoon through Thursday night.

WHERE: All of Southeast Louisiana and Southern Mississippi.

CONFIDENCE: We are confident that there will be thunderstorms across the area and that a few will be severe.  We have less confidence in exactly where those severe storms will occur.


The main threats associated with any severe storms will be:

  • Wind gusts greater than 60 mph.

  • Large hail in excess of 1" in diameter.

  • A few tornadoes.
