My name is Dawson Primes, director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management for Tangipahoa Parish. What our agency does, in a nutshell, is we want to provide an overarching, comprehensive response and plan for the first responder agencies of Tangipahoa Parish.
It brings together the full team from all the local and state agencies, law enforcement, fire services, our sheltering branch, and so we’ve amassed a team together that during an emergency event, no matter how severe, we can be able to address any issues that come about.
When nothing’s going on, we’re managing Homeland Security grant money, we are doing plans, we do emergency plans, we’re constantly updating the parishes, all hazards, emergency plan, and all of its annexes. And we also help other agencies write their emergency preparedness plans.
