Hon. H.G. "Buddy" Ridgel
Howard “Buddy” Ridgel is serving his eighth term as a Tangipahoa Parish Council member representing Tickfaw, Natalbany and Hammond. He was born and raised in Tickfaw and is married to Michele Daly Ridgel. They have three grown children.
After graduating high school, he entered the U.S. Air Force for a four-year tour. On completion of his military duties he came back home to Tickfaw and started his career with the City of Hammond. He started his employment working as a Hammond Firefighter for three years and then was given the opportunity to become the Street Superintendent for the city, where he served for the next thirty-four years in that position. In 2010 Mayor Mayson Foster gave him the opportunity to become the Public Works Director. Buddy retired in 2015 after forty-two years with the City of Hammond.
His duties during his career with the City of Hammond entailed drainage, roads, garbage collection and disposal, landfills, animal shelter and working with a multimillion-dollar budget. This put him in a unique position to understand the responsibilities as a Council member and member of the Fire Board.
He feels very blessed to have served his entire career in public service.
