150th Anniversary Essay Contest

Why I think Tangipahoa Parish is the best parish in the state.

Rules

Write a 600-800 word original essay explaining why, in your opinion, Tangipahoa Parish is the best parish in the state. Essay must be typed and saved as a Word document.

Contest is open to students of Tangipahoa Parish Schools in the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades.

All entries must be submitted using the form below. All submissions must be received by 4PM on May 6th, 2019. Please read the submission form carefully. Incomplete submission forms will not be accepted.

In addition to submitting the written essay via email, you may also choose to video record yourself reading your essay aloud. Recordings of essays should be uploaded to Youtube or Vimeo and the link to the video should be included in the submission of the essay as well.

Prizes

Photos submitted may be selected by a jury and curated for an exhibit that will show in July at the Hammond Regional Arts Center, in August at Hot August Night, and in September at the 150 years celebration in the Florida Parishes Arena. Winners will be notified via email by 5PM on September 21st, 2019.

Prizes will be awarded by mail within 4 weeks of winners announcement.

  • 1st Place: $100
  • 2nd Place: $75
  • 3rd Place: $50
